airsoft props
they could be,
but i'm more focust on usable things such as, crash sites, missile platforms, mortors, cover. etc.
see i wan't to use these for an atmosphere type to make the battles more "realistic" "cool" and well overall unique.

Re: airsoft props
jake, we should play at your field cause we could put stuff there. and if anyone hasnt seen the bothel field recently, you dont want to....
Re: airsoft props
I do want to find a field that we could dig up and put trenches and foxholes and bunkers and stuff in. Our usual place is getting kind of stale.

Re: airsoft props
sweeeeet. sounds good we could just put up some plywood sheets to make some bases. we need to play there
props
so i was thinking about actual airsoft morters, since you said that you can use those 40mm airsoft grenades in pipes. then do it!!!!! it would add realism to the games

Re: airsoft props
heres a "realistic" idea ive been talking to henry abour for while: artillery. beyond mortars, with 9 pipes in a square, then slam that down on 9 pipes with nails at the bottom, and have like 5 bags of bb's going across the field. this would be sweet, but would require multiple people and a lot of Co2 shells. and a will to succeed, and an imagination to create even more crazy things we dont need!
no nails
the only thing is that we cant use nails or bolts only a nud, i have been experimenting with this consept for about two years now, what i have come up with is a swinging bolt, this means you load the shell in, close the breach hatch wich also carries the swinging bolt with a nubbin on it, the nubbin sets the grenade, presses the primer and boom. the gun it self is not the problem building, it is the platform.
but that would be stationary, morters are light and can be moved fast. plus with airsoft, you would want inderect fire. if not then you would use your gun.
but i have made test guns of this so you havent been the only one thinking of this.

Re: airsoft props
only problem with mortars are that they are crazy innaccurate. i doubt you'de ever get a kill. theres also alot of overhead trees, and think about this: what cover in our fields is effective aginst bb's, and if it is: it should be protecting overr your head. most all cover is all-suited cover
well
i'm thinking my feild! if i were to make a mounted howitzer or gun it would stay at my house because well! i made it. these airsoft morters arn't inacurate trust me. in NATC we used these and that was the biggest "hit" factor of the day, don't judge it till you have been in front of it!you won't like it, especialy when we use .28 grams in it and rubber slugs with fire crackers epoxied to the tips!

the morter works!!!!!! but it would be better if we used foam slugs with explosives on them....

artillery
ok as some of you may know i have succesfully made a airsoft morter... ( sorry if i didn't spell that right )
anywaysi measured the distance of a spray shell ( the one i bought from Henry ) and the range was ~60-85 yards withe a bb spray of about 8in-11/2 feet... i set up a targets around 25, 50, and 75 yards. below is a table of how much hang time/flight time the bb's had till they hit the target...
IN ALL TESTS, .25g BB's WERE USED, GREEN GAS, 4 sec jab of gas.
25= 5 sec.
50= 8 sec
75= i lost count but it was around 10 sec.
i was able to use my friend's mad bull slug shot round... if we put a duct tape fin on the round, it is deadly acurate...
25= 3 sec
50= 5 sec
75= 7 sec
i will post pics of it here soon... and i could also post plans too. team artillery is a great way to add realism and fun.

Re: airsoft props
i think that a shell with more bb's and using .12's would be really good, more bb's for better accuracy, and lighter for greater range and more randomness to spray around

you know it really doesn't matter how heavy the bbs are. but its like a gun. use lighter bbs, it will be less acurate. use heaver bbs, more acurate
but since it is a morter. the projectile has a lot more air time, wich means it is volnerable to wind...
there for lighter bb's would be vary unacurate. plus if your shooting through trees they will get stuck.
but your idea is not a total down fall. when were randomly shooting in the direction of the enemy, .12 would be more reliable, because like you said they spread more and if we are trying to hit multible targets in a large area, it would be more money wise
