General tactics Empty General tactics

found this on airsoft retreat, though it was pretty useful general advice.

Motion draws the eye, think then move-

-where am i going
-where is the enemy likely to be
-how will I get to where I am going
-what will I do if I take fire
-when you stop listen and observe

When taking cover, never expose yourself in the same position more than once in a row.

for snipers/marksman. from U.S.N. special forces manual.

taking a single shot (one shot one kill)

1.identify suroundings, look for high ground and weak flanks.
2.identify a target. (airsoft= around 60-100yrds max range)
3.If you can wait for them to get closer,do so.
4.when ready to take a shot, watch for wind change.
5.take the shot
6.wait 3-5 seconds untill you move at all, this includes falling back and reloading.

if you fail to make the shot and the target takes cover, remember they can't stay there forever. in that time try to get closer (get closer if you were spotted) if you havn't been seen stay in your position.

for every sniper/marksman on the team, take the time to warm up your gun before use, also having your optics zeroed in makes a huge difference in a game. if you don't know/can't zero in your optics, talk to me before a game and i will see what i can do. ( i have noticed alot of people don't sight their optics correctly) but think they do Suspect

1. know how much amo you can wast at one person
2. watch the flanks
3. stay in formation
4. agressave yelling and talking non stop
5. yelling and pointing were the contact is
6. a piece of cover should be only used by one person at a time
7. if one of your teamates was moving up its nice to give suspressive fire over their heads

3 things

1. Communicate, without being the idiot on the radio that says "He's by that tree!"
2. It's just airsoft, quit hiding behind the SAW guy.
3. If your 'superior' tells you do jump off a bridge, jump off a bridge. (not literally, of course)

General tactics Empty The Art of War

Post  knapik1993 Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:40 am

I don't know if anyone cares, but I found a copy of SunTzu's "The Art of War" online. Very Happy

I don't have the time to read it fully, so if anyone does, it'd be helpful for me, and anyone else, for that matter, if you'd post anything you found helpful in the book. Smile

sunTzu's art of war is a book created to prepare one's mind for battle, and other unnecisary crap like "beleiving in morality in the face of fear". WTF? i think a better way to spend your time is to read a military training handbook

i think you'd have a better chance of learning tactics from Harry Potter

Well, I just skimmed through it and I saw a section on terrain, and I figured it might be useful. Like I said, I just don't have the time to read the entire thing, so I wasn't sure if it would help or not.

well first off, mark, if your superior tells you to jump off a bridge, you jump off a bridge. quite literally. second, ive found no matter how deep you are in a bush, or how perfect your camo is, your gun isnt. ive seen a gun floating in the air, before i realized there was a person holding that gun! its all about complete camo. one missing part could give you away. you can put camo tape on, or a ghillie rag, both available online. (im mad at sirplus, dont go there Mad ) also, after you fire, go back into cover, and keep popping out and taking a burst, then going back into cover, and crazy spastic movements like that can help you from getting shot

for people who are cool like me

1. run straigh toward the other team
2. do not bother taking cover, because cover is for pussies
3. shoot anything that moves
